A yurt's strength comes from the balance of compression and tension; a central compression ring supports rafters radiating outwards, held together by a tension cable around the walls.
The roof is made from a heavy-duty industrial-grade composite fabric designed to be extremely tough, waterproof, and highly resistant to UV and weather exposure.
Yurts are insulated using a double-layer reflective bubble insulation sandwiched between aluminium sheets, or a more eco-friendly option is wool and hemp. Both options reflect heat in summer and retain warmth in winter.
Yes. The wall fabric can be patched on-site using brush-on adhesive for simple, cost-effective repairs.
The lattice walls are designed for easy installation and exceptional strength. Made from naturally dried, high-pressure-treated bamboo, they offer hardwood-like durability and pest resistance. The lattice sits within a beautifully crafted pine frame, creating a solid structure with minimal movement and a higher wind rating than many other yurts. Each piece is hand-sanded for superior quality control, ensuring a robust and refined finish.
The rafters are crafted from select, stress-rated timber, while the main tension cable is made of galvanised aircraft-grade steel for maximum durability and structural integrity.
Our new design uses top and bottom tracks for the lattice walls, doors, and windows, eliminating the need for a tension cable. This creates a stronger, more stable structure and makes assembly faster and easier, no more fiddling with cable tension or awkwardly fitting roof rafters. Just a solid, modular build you can set up with ease and confidence.
We custom-position windows to frame your best views and optimise airflow. Choose from large floor-to-ceiling curved windows (1.5–3m wide) for a real wow factor, 80cm x 80cm windows ideal for bathrooms or kitchens, or 90cm x 210cm outward-opening windows. All feature real wood frames and glass for a premium finish. None of this plastic window rubbish or lattice running straight through your view. Only real wood frames, and real glass.
All doors are made out of real wood and real glass. We do not use mental frames, PVC frames or plastic like you see in a lot of yurts. Our doors are built out of pine wood and treated in a healthy eco-friendly process, with beautiful craftmanship.
The dome skylight allows natural light to fill the yurt while reducing heat build-up. The dome is great for stargazing at night too. It creates beautiful shadows as light pours in around the yurt at different times of the day. It's the WOW factor when you look up.
Yes. Beyond Yurt offers custom options for interior and exterior colours, flooring, as well as different window and door options too. You can tailor your yurt's look and layout to suit your style and vision. Fancy a whole wall of glass to frame a beautiful view? We can help with that.
Beyond Yurt's roofing is a high-performance, single-ply PVC roofing membrane. It's renowned for its exceptional durability, weather resistance, and long lifespan, often lasting 15 to 30 years with proper maintenance.
High-quality yurts are made with strong weatherproof fabrics and materials, UV-stabilised vinyl, and our windows and doors are all real wood and glass designed to withstand the harsh Australian and New Zealand weather.
Absolutely. You can configure open-plan spaces, install partitions, or build in full kitchens, bathrooms, and sleeping areas to suit your lifestyle, Airbnb/Glamping set up, home studio, office space or whatever space you need. They are extremely versatile, and setting up your interior is the fun part.
Reflective-Foil or our wool and hemp insulation acts as both a radiant heat barrier and vapor barrier, helping to maintain a comfortable temperature year-round while preventing condensation build-up. For cooler climates, we'll typically suggest doubling up on insulation.
No! You absolutely do not have to have plastic windows in a yurt. While most yurt manufacturers may use flexible PVC or vinyl windows for theirs as it's substantially cheaper to produce, these can compromise clarity of your view and durability over time.

At Beyond Yurt, we believe in providing superior quality and an uninterrupted connection with nature. That's why our window options feature only real wood frames with real glass panes. You won't find any plastic windows or distracting lattice running directly through your beautiful views. We prioritise durability, clarity, and a natural aesthetic for your yurt experience.

At least a couple times per month we'll get customers telling us that this was a big reason for choosing to work with us for their yurt project.
Our new model Yurts can comfortably handle winds of up to 120 km/h when correctly installed.

The inherent aerodynamic circular design of yurts plays a significant role in their stability. Unlike traditional rectangular structures that present flat surfaces to the wind, a yurt's curved shape allows high winds to flow smoothly around it, significantly reducing wind resistance and making them exceptionally resilient in strong weather conditions.
Doors are made from pine wood, hand-finished with a natural stain finish for durability and a warm, organic aesthetic. Our doors add to the strength and rigidity of the structure.
No. Standard tools are all that's needed. However, having a handy, experienced installer to guide the build makes the process much faster and easier. We make sure you'll have someone on standby during your assembly for any questions on the day.
Yurts can be installed on timber decks, concrete slabs, or even rammed earth floors, depending on your site, budget, and intended use. We have a fully insulated modular base as an option to perfectly match your yurt size and speed up your base build.
